It's been rumored for months and now it is finally official.

It was confirmed this evening during the UFC 77 "Hostile Territory" PPV that former WWE superstar Brock Lesnar has signed a deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

There was no mention of when Brock will have his first fight or who his first opponent will be - but he's signed.

We will have more on this story shortly.

i'd like to see who they match him up against for his first fight.
a scrum bum or someone who will give him a good battle.

i always loved brock in WWE and i'm pumped to see him in action in some real fights. he had one televised MMA fight and he beat the guys ass. but i think it was a scrum bum.

The scrum bum was a silver medalist in Judo I think...but he got the medal in like 1992 or something. He was supposed to fight Hong Man Choi, but there were problems with him.

Saturday is UFC 78: Validation.
Not sure if anyone is up for ordering it but I'm always down for some UFC.
I figured I should start a thread on this since there wasnt any yet.

Here is some info on the PPV.

The main event will feature The Ultimate Fighter 2 heavyweight winner Rashad Evans against season three's light heavyweight winner Michael Bisping. Additionally, PRIDE veterans Ryo Chonan and Akihiro Gono are both scheduled to make their UFC debuts. Both fighters fought at 183 pounds in Japan, but with the UFC's inclusion of the 170 pound division each fighter will move down to fight at welterweight. Cuban Judoka, Hector Lombard was also scheduled to debut on the event but will now not be participating due to Visa problems. According to MMAWeekly and Wrestling Observer, Karo Parisyan will now face Ryo Chonan, and Thiago Alves will fight Chris Lytle.

Light heavyweight bout: Rashad Evans vs. Michael Bisping
- nothing big happened, pretty well matched up. went to a decision and it wasnt clear who would definitely win. evans won due to more take downs i think. pretty boring for a main event.

Welterweight bout: Karo Parisyan vs. Ryo Chonan
- the asian guy from Pride didnt do too well in the cage and pretty much got his ass beat. i think it went to a decision and parisyan won via unanimous decision.

Light heavyweight bout: Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva
- the fight was called when alexander took about 5 straight punches to the face without blocking. and it was only the first round.

Lightweight bout: Spencer Fisher vs. Frank Edgar
- Fisher got his ass kicked but made it all 3 rounds to the decision. obvious winner in edgar though.

Middleweight bout: Ed Herman vs. Joe Doerksen
- herman knocked out doerksen in the 3rd round with a big punch to the jaw.

UFC 80: Rapid Fire is an upcoming mixed martial arts (MMA) event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), that is due to take place on January 19, 2008 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England.

The main event was originally scheduled for an Interim Lightweight Championship; however, then-Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk was stripped of his UFC Lightweight Championship after the California State Athletic Commission upheld his testing positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone. With the true belt available for contest the match was altered to be for the undisputed championship.

UFC 81: Breaking Point is an upcoming mixed martial arts (MMA) event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), that is due to take place on February 2, 2008 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event will feature Tim Sylvia and Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira for UFC's Interim World Heavyweight Championship. Current Heavyweight champion Randy Couture declined a championship fight with Nogueira, which setup the current fight.
This event will also see the much-anticipated UFC debut of former WWE Champion and NCAA national wrestling champion Brock Lesnar when he fights former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir.
Jeremy Horn will also make his UFC return against Nate Marquardt, replacing an injured Thales Leites.

he's not the main event but he's the fight right before it.
the PPV starts at 10 usually so you should be fine.
unless its on at some crazy ass time again.

I wanted Lesnar to win. I wanted a new heavyweight contender in UFC, plus I always liked Brock from the WWE days. But I dont think he did bad. He pounded the shit out of Mir, it looked like a complete whooping until he locked in that leglock. Mir has more experience and his ground fighting is good.

I dont know what that back of the head point penalty was all about. Every fight I have ever seen they give the guy a couple warnings first.

I wonder who Brock will fight next because there's no way he's headlining anything yet with no UFC wins and his MMA record is only 1-1.

UFC 82: Pride of a Champion is an upcoming mixed martial arts (MMA) event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to take place on March 1, 2008 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

The main event is a middleweight title unification match between UFC champion Anderson Silva and PRIDE FC Welterweight champion Dan Henderson. A welterweight matchup between Jon Fitch and Akihiro Gono was originally scheduled, but Gono was forced to withdraw after suffering a hand injury in training. Gono will be replaced by Chris Wilson.

It has also been announced that former UFC Heavyweight Champion Mark Coleman will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
