I was hoping the extra attention to the Phillies would have helped Happ out. Coghlin had a hell of a second half though. Thats the only name I remember hearing when playing the Marlins.

They're from Vorhees. He went to Paul VI, did you guys used to play against them?

Probably did, I went to Eustace so we played them all the fucking time. I just checked and he's three years younger than me. They were never very good though, we smoked them all the time. i remember they had a decent catcher at one point.

Another funny thing is that SJ native Jack Cust (Immaculata grad maybe?) is also playing for the A's.

His sister's name is Kate, she played softball and was pretty good i think.

I was wondering who was gonna get it for the NL. I was thinking Torre because the record the Dodgers put up, but the Rockies gave them a run for their money.

NL Cy Young
Tim Lincecum - Giants

Man, he beat out both Cardinals pitchers.
And he's the first pitcher to win the Cy Young in his first 2 FULL MLB seasons.

I forgot to write this and its funny no one mentioned it. Chip Caray got the sack from TBS, why? Because he was awful. He was seriously fired for giving bad stats and info.

Anyone here about the new Cardinals Dynasty?!

No?!

This news is a few weeks old now.

Well, we got Holliday locked down in a huuuuuuuuuge deal! He'll keep Pujols safe, and hell, as long as both of these guys are healthy, we're gonna be close to unstoppable between them and our pitchers.

And on what some might call a sour note, Big Mac will be the hitting coach. As a lifelong Cards fan, I can't be happier.

I hope Big Mac NEVER gets into the hall of fame. He's a cheat and a liar. Nobody takes steroids for HEALTH reasons.

You guys were NASTY in the playoffs last year, flat out filthy. Oh wait...

And I agree with Jeff, McGwire and the rest of those Juicer bums have no right being in Cooperstown.

You'll be real happy when Pujols and Holliday are hitting .250

Big Hurt is retiring

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/n ... id=4907072

Quote:
Former Chicago White Sox slugger Frank Thomas has called a news conference for 11 a.m. Friday local time at U.S. Cellular Field to announce his retirement.

The White Sox are expected to announce at that time that Thomas' No. 35 will be retired this summer, according to major league sources. A source speculated the ceremony might occur Aug. 2, the 20-year anniversary of when Thomas broke in with the Sox.

MLB.com first reported that Thomas would retire. Thomas, who played for the White Sox from 1990 to 2005, told MLB.com he spent last winter, as well as much of this offseason, thinking about his future and waiting for offers that never surfaced.

The five-time All-Star is thought to be a strong contender for the Baseball Hall of Fame when he becomes eligible in 2014.

Thomas, arguably the greatest player in White Sox history, holds numerous team records, including all-time home run and RBI marks. Thomas, who turns 42 on May 27, has pursued a career in broadcasting since failing to hook on with a team after 2008.

prolly my favorite baseball player. Its between him and Kruk.

When he gets voted into Cooperstown, I might go up induction weekend. He's the main reason why I like baseball as much as I do today.
