We were discussing the idea of putting up a betting thread yesterday since a few of us had some money riding on different games so here it goes. I'm gonna offer my picks for the week. Here is what I like today:

Dolphins -3
Lions +6.5
Raiders +6
49ers -3
Cleveland +3

This is a tough week to pick games. Nothing jumps out at me as a clear cut winner, but I do like the 49ers the most. Snow Miser is a terrible NFL coach and I can't see the Seahawks beating a more talented and better coached division rival. When you are relying on Mike Williams to get the job done, you clearly don't understand this league.

I wish i knew anything about what those lines mean. I listen to a lot of Bill Simmons, and he talks a lot about gambling during football season, but i seriously have no idea what that stuff means.

it's tough for me to wrap my brain around, i guess, when there's no matchup (i.e. only one team listed). Does that mean that since the you were giving the Lions +6.5 that you would, conversely, give the Bears -6.5?

if a team has a + it means they are the underdog so whoever they are playing is the favortie.

next week the Eagles are a -3.5 vs the Lions. so right off the bat the Eagles would be losing 3.5 to 0. Or if you picked the Lions you would be winning 3.5 to 0.

if you cant figure this out then forget about parlays and reverse. That shit had my mind going crazy the first time i tried to do it. But i got a lot of degenerate friends so they helped me out hahaha

I believe he was only putting the bets he was picking, thats why only 1 team is listed.

The Lions +6.5 meant that he was betting the lions would not lose by more than 6.5 points. If they won he would've won, and even though they lost, they only lost by 5, so he still won.

Another bet on that game would've been Bears -6.5 which meant you'd be betting on the bears to win by more than 6.5. And you would've lost that bet.



....which reminds me, I need to check if the pa casinos have sports books now.... for some reason i don't think they do.

Here are my College Picks for the day:

Arkansas -1.5 vs .Georgia

Ohio St. -29.5 vs. Ohio

Penn St. -21 vs.Kent St.

Auburn - 7.5 vs. Clemson

Arkansas vs. Georgia should be a really good game and even though Georgia is at home, I think Arkansas wins this time around.

I'm good at College, but NFL not so much. Immediately throw these NFL picks out:

Tennessee -5.5 vs. Pittsburgh

Dallas -7 vs. Chicago

Cinncinatti +2.5 vs. Baltimore

Miami +5.5 vs. Minnesota

Jets +3 vs. Pats

It's in there baby. Trust me, the Jets were due for a let down against Baltimore and it happened. Today will be a different story. Vegas sets that line at 3 for a reason. You would think Pats -7 if they were THAT good. Tomlinson finds his old running shoes and the JETS get back to shoving it up Brady's ass.

I haven't studied a lot of this weekend's games yet, but I like North carolina -2 against Rutgers. Penn State -13 against Temple seems too good to be true since the line has moved six points in the last week. I would monitor this one until Staurday morning before making a play.

I actually was just gonna text you this, but I liked Temple at +17 and I still like them at +13.5. Even though PSU is at home, I'm really thinking about taking Temple with the points. Last year, PSU failed to cover the spread against Temple and I just have this feeling they will fail to cover it again. I think Temple is better this year and PSU is not as good as they were last year. In the end, I will probably avoid this one altogether.

One thing I am taking is Ohio St -44 Eastern Michigan. You may think this is insane, but Ohio St has covered every game so far and I will ride that train until it's derailed.

I hit Miami last night, but forgot to post it. Here are my week picks:

TCU -17 SMU (Spread jumped to 18, gotta like the TCU defense here)

Ohio St. -44 Eastern Michigan (Taking Ohio St. until they fail to cover)

Temple -14 PSU (I know Joe Pa will hate me for this, but this line has been way too active. Temple is capable of upsetting PSU in their own stadium)

Alabama -7 Arkansas (Arkansas coming off a tough game with Georgia, Alabama takes advantage)

South Carolina +3 Auburn (I'm a huge fan of the SC freshman rb - Marcus Lattimore. South Carolina is the real deal and continues to prove it on Saturday)

Tenn -14 UAB (I think Tennessee rolls over UAB)

I'm tailing you with the Alabama and South Carolina picks. I think South Carolina wins that game outright on the back of it's defense. I hope you're right on Ohio State, I just can't bet on a 7 TD spread. I mentioned earlier that I liked UNC today, so here are two others that caught my eye:

Air Force -13.5 over Wyoming. Air Force has looked good this season, playing tough at Oklahoma last week. On the other side Wyoming looks really bad. I think Air Force puts this one away early.

Duke -6 vs. Army. Anytime Army goes on the road bad things happen to them. Duke may be a bottom feeder, but their offense is still good enough to more than cover this spread.

True the Penn State line has been very active, but im not buying all the Temple hype, I think Penn State covers that easily.

I like the Alabama pick, Arkansas has a ton of hype now too, I think Alabama comes out and shows everyone whos boss

Any thoughts on the NFL yet?

Jets at Miami is very interesting, Jets (+2)? thats a tough one to turn down

Thinking about taking the Pats (-14) too cause Brady always feasts on the Bills

I have to see if I have any money left from Saturday's action before I move on Sunday haha. As a Bills fan I can tell you the Pats look like a safe pick. The Bills changed QBs so the may be energized for a quarter but there's no way they can hang with the Pats.

The NFL line I like right now is Ravens getting 11.5 against the Browns. Flacco isn't as bad as he has looked and I would be surprised if Seneca Wallace leads the Browns into double digits. The spread seems scarry for the Ravens offense, but I think they get it together this week. That said I'm not betting it until I see how I do Saturday. If it's a good day I will look at it closer and make decide if i want to make a move on it.

I saw that TCU spread jump to 18.5 and I'm sure a lot of people lost that game, but I had it at 17 and ended up pushing because the idiot kicker from TCU botched an extra point at the end of the game. The FIX was in.

I'll do NFL picks tomorrow morning, but I'll tell you what, don't underestimate Miami. Their defense is playing great and I don't think a lot of people know it. I'm probably going to stay way from that one.

I really wanted to take NC State today getting 8 against Georgia Tech, but just couldn't bring myself to do it so I ended up taking the Over instead at 57.5.

One note on the PSU game and that's the fact they play Iowa next week. You better believe they are thinking about that game more then Temple.

Update: NC State Over jumped to 60. Looks like Vegas is looking for a shootout.
