Quote:
Although THE LAST AIRBENDER has been almost universally reviled, M. Night Shyamalan seems undeterred on his mission to make the property into a live-action trilogy. And the eventual total box office could conceivably give him that opportunity.

ShyamWow tells MTV what he has in mind: "The third is more ambiguous, but the second one, I've written a draft that I'm really happy with and is darker and richer, and it has a wonderful antagonist in it in Azula, who's kind of like our only real, pure antagonist in the series, so I'm excited about that."

He also intends to incorporate the female Kyoshi Warriors, who didn't make the cut in the first movie, even though he shot a scene and they "were amazing, and we spent an unbelievable amount of time choreographing them. And they just distracted from the movie, because the movie wasn't about them."

Shyamalan's pricey adaptation of the Miyazaki-influenced animated TV series is set in a fantasy world and follows a reluctant young hero who can manipulate the elements using martial arts and CGI. The first movie has collected $80 million so far.

Not sure the movies need to be any darker. Night seems to be missing the point that this story is about a child coming to terms with responsibility. I guess that is what makes movie Aang different from cartoon Aang. Still, maybe he really means it when he says "richer." I'll go see it. And you know what? So will everyone else that saw it. I have proof, and that proof is Transformers 2. People that hated the first one still saw the second, and they will still see the third. Movies. People can't help but watch them.

Oh, and James Newton Howard fucking delivered on the music in this movie. Grabbed the OST yesterday and it's awesome.

I'll definitely watch all of them even though I hated this first one.
Like I said, I'm an M Night fan. He made a lot of great stuff so I have faith that something great will still come from him. Some day.

Maybe the twist is that we're all expecting greatness and he'll just never deliver again. And then we'll all be sad.

I will download them. I think a lot of other people will do the same. I don't see a lot of people paying theater prices for them though. Or people buying the movies to add to their collection.

So, I saw Inception tonight and had quite an experience. During the previews they showed the trailer for that dumb elevator movie that Shyamalan had some part in, and at first there wasn't any reaction. Halfway through the trailer, when "Written by M. Night Shyamalan' came on screen, a collective mixture of loathing 'ughs' and disappointed 'awws' swept through the theater. I've never really seen that happen before, and it was pretty nuts.

Wow. Night is officially hated. I get the feeling even if he does make another great movie, it'll still be hated by people.

Maybe he should just start taking his name out of his movies for a while?

Is it wrong of me to want a sequel to this just to see a hot ass live action Ty Lee?
