hah i love it. hopes and dreams have indeed been broken.
Well I wouldn't say totally broken. The only hope and dream I'm really sad about is the lack of something out of Retro Studios. I mean, I know something is coming, but fuck, it's been 2 years since DKCR wrapped up. Shiiiiiit.
I think Nintendo would have had a MUCH stronger showing if they just shuffled around a few things. I would have cut that Batman shit right out of there and replaced it with a demonstration of Zombi U. GT had a demo of someone playing that and it actually ended up getting my attention. It looks nice and the idea is really cool. I'm over zombies, but this just sounded really unique (you get one "life" per character and see how long you survive. Then you get thrown to another survivor keeping some of your gear. Eventually you'll run into the zombie versions of your former lives) and it looked to do some neat stuff with the controller. How they featured Batman over this is beyond me.
I would have nixed Just Dance 4. I would have kept Sing just because it's an exclusive Wii U game, but I would have put that Platinum Games title in there somehow. Game looks fucking sweet.
And I still think NintendoLand is probably going to be awesome. They just chose the wrong shit to show off and the developer they had up there, while legendary status, wasn't presenting his work in the most interesting light. I would have shown off an easier to digest game (I read about some, and the ninja star one sounds great). They really flubbed NintendoLand, especially since it's such a key game.
I think if they adjusted those things the conference would have been much more satisfying. They had all the right elements there, they just fucked them up.
Oh, and I think if Nintendo had some sort of agreement with Ubi to reveal Rayman during their show, that also would have really helped them out. It's a great exclusive to have. People love Origins, and since Wii U is the only place to get it, it would have been a big one to reveal there.
