Yeah I will not take part in that campaign either. I know for a fact I would not buy any of them even though they do look pretty good. Just out of the whole RPG thing.

is fatal frame 4 on that list? i onsider myself a big fan of that series, and i'd love to play the wii version (though i heard it controlled terribly). however, just look at the first three nd you'll see that while they're great games, they aren't huge sellers by any means and they certainly play to a niche market. releasing a game like FF4 here, is a huge gamble that in all lieklyhood will not pay off for them. as a fan i am dissapoint, but i can see where they are coming from on a business stand point.

So these games that are stuck in Japan (and coming to Europe) that I was talking about have become part of a movement by Wii fans to get them brought to the US. They started some campaign the other day to bombard NOA and Reggie himself about bringing them stateside. The interesting part is that apparently NOA plans on issuing a statement later today in regards to this.

My feeling? They're going to tell people too bad and if they want them, they're available in English elsewhere through other means. Still, I thought they would just completely ignore this movement all together.

So the statement never happened but they said it could come "whenever." Interesting part is that, Operation Rainfall, as it's called, has really taken off. It's gotten coverage at nearly every major game blog. People that are part of the campaign have preordered Xenosaga from Amazon where it's still called Monado and it shot to #1 for a day (it's currently at #4). The result is that even Amazon tweeted about the game and linked back to IGN's article about the cause.

There's no way Nintendo can just ignore it now. Curious to see what happens.

Why don't they just do what the Yakuza series did and not record English VO? Just translate the menus and subtitle the dialogue. Seems to have worked for the Yakuza series since it's selling to an audience that probably doesn't mind that.

I watched the video with the english voices and the constant yelling during battle sequences really annoyed me. Interest is fading.

It's all sooooo bad! I think I could have dealt with it if it wasn't a constant barrage of idiocy. They never stop yelling shit!

It's already in English!? That seems like something that would be fun to play online with your pals as the other party members.

Yeah thats the other reason people are going nuts because it's already in english for the European release.

It pretty much looks like FF12 in both the way it plays and its art direction.

Here is Nintendo's official response to the fan campaign that took a day longer than expected to write

Quote:
Thank you for your enthusiasm. We promised an update, so here it is. We never say “never,” but we can confirm that there are no plans to bring these three games to the Americas at this time. Thanks so much for your passion, and for being such great fans!

HAHAHAHAHAHA that is the worst response ever. Translation "Give up, shits not coming out."

Well it doesn't make financial sense does it? My favorite band is a rock band, and they are no longer being funded by their record company for any big budget music videos (as they have in the past) since a lot of the people on their label are rappers/pop artists now. There's no way that they'll make the money, no reason to import them.

Anyways can't these people who are crying about it just install homebrew? I did that for day of crisis.

Really insightful article into WiiWare development from an indie dev that got burned with the service.

http://www.icongames.com/?p=1793

I always suspected WiiWare was a disaster, and this really proves that point. I can't believe companies don't make a single dime off their work until it hits a certain number of downloads. That just blows my mind. I also can't believe companies are not allowed to slash prices or have promotions. Just insane. I honestly don't know why anyone would develop for WiiWare. It still blows my mind that these shitty games still comes out week after week. If these guys are getting screwed, why do people proceed to do it?

What a nightmare.

yeah thats very disheartening, and frankly is what i hate about nintendo. historically, this is what always ends up biting them in the ass. they shit and piss (sometimes even fart) on their third party devs. i guess you could call indie publishers 4th party devs now hah. its pretty miserable on there and its no wonder wiiware totally blows.

Europe (and presumably the rest of the world) is getting a Wii redesign by Christmas, which looks exactly like the original Wii.

Image

The major difference is that it has zero Gamecube support. Can't play Cube games and can't use Cube controllers. It also doesn't stand vertically, so it lacks a stand.

Quote:
A new streamlined Wii console will be released in the UK before Christmas.

The Wii will be released as part of a new value bundle which comes with Wi Party and Wii Sports.

According to Nintendo, the console is a streamlined white Wii with a slightly altered configuration, which is designed to sit horizontally rather than vertically.

However, unlike the current Wii, it will no longer play GameCube games and isn't compatible with the controllers.

In addition to the white Wii console and games, the bundle includes a Wii Remote Plus controller and Nunchuk.

Nintendo has also revealed that a number of other value Wii bundles will be announced this autumn.

We hope to have a picture of this new streamlined Wii very soon.

Crazy that game isn't coming here. Just looks like a really quality game.

Also, Wii U better upscale stuff like Dolphin, but it won't.
