I don't get how you can call it the Devil May Cry Collection when it only contains 3/4 games.

Also I only played 4. I always wanted to play the earlier ones but I feel like they would just fall into my pile of shame.

The only big difference in the 4th one is the amount of back tracking, and Nero. At the very least, you should try 3.

So I bought Prototype 2 Wednesday and now I've beaten it in 3 (pretty long) sittings. I actually really enjoyed it. There are definitely some interesting story points. However I kind of thought the end was weird You beat the main bad guy then it ends with Heller on a roof with his daughter (who you believed was dead until one of the last missions) and Dana Mercer and Dana Mercer asks "So what do we do now?" BAM credits.

Also I think using Alex Mercer, the main character from the first game was a pretty cool choice.

So after beating Prototype 2 last night I realize I only had a few trophies left to get the platinum. So I started a new game+ on hard (one of the trophies was beat it on hard) I blew through it. Skipped every cutscene and did absolutely 0 side missions and died once. I think having full upgraded flight, speed and weapons made it a much shorter process.

I really enjoyed this. It's got a great look, a few intense action scenes, some hard choices, and a little bit of point and click puzzle solving. I'm hooked. Probably the easiest Telltale game to lose yourself in. I beat it in around 2 hours, which isn't terrible if you consider it's part 1 of 5, but that may be too rich for some people.

Glad I finally got the chance to play through this. The story is generic Japanese ghost story, but it works well enough in setting up the stage and has plenty of detail to fill it out. Graphically, it's dated, but with all the filters they used in place it still has it's own distinct look. I wouldn't call it a bad looking game. In my experience, the game was so dark, I couldn't see most of my surroundings until I was on top of them anyway. I kind of wished that more ghosts would appear in more unconventional ways. Most of the game wasn't super scary because you'd get a cutscene introducing 90% of the ghosts you encounter. The battles were always intense though. They use high frequency noise a lot in this game, and it really messed with my head.

The last section of the game was super easy in comparison to the section before it. I had to play the same area for 90 minutes tonight because I had no health items and the game kept trying to throw 2 strong and super fast ghosts at me at the same time. I finally figured out that if you wander around, one of them will attack you on his own, so once I beat him and saved the game, it wasn't too terrible getting through that part. Still, the ghosts in Night 3 are brutal compared to the rest of the game. The last boss was laughably easy. She barely even does anything, just teleports a few feet to the left or right every so often. She never even had a chance to attack me. Pretty sure she kills you in one hit, but like I said, she pretty much just stood there and let me shutter her to death. A let down sure, but after Night 3, I was kind of glad to be over with the game.

I'm pondering jumping into part 2 right now...

I decided to check out the PC version of Another World tonight and ended up beating the whole game. I can't believe how much of it I remembered. Nearly the entire thing. I cheated on ONE part and when I got the answer I remembered exactly what it was. I felt like a fool!

I still love it. I was getting into it and saying "HOLY SHIT" when the shit starts to hit the fan towards the end there. I will say, I really missed the music from the SNES version. I was kinda sad that this had like zero music actually. :(

This game was harder to me than any Mega Man game because I'm not familiar with it. It has four bosses from the first game and then four from the 2nd game. The only thing that kept me going was the backup save you can do on the 3DS. Wiley took me a little getting used to but his fight at the end was actually easier compared to some of the frustration getting through some of the stages. I'm probably going to be replaying this one to get the memory of the levels down.

Fair play with VC GB games in book. I would never have gotten through Bionic Commando without that thing.

C'mon Nate you never used a save on a game that allowed it on an emulator? It is added by Nintendo so I can't complain!

I can't think of anything in recent memory. I used to do it all the time, but I guess I have too much pride now. Gotta do it the real way or not at all.

Yeah, I don't consider a game beat unless it was done the legit way. No emulator save states.

Pretty cool flight combat game. There's this mechanic where if you can keep an enemy in your view for long enough, you can zoom right behind them and take them out. It kept battles from being too drawn out and frustrating. If this was a legitimate flight sim, it would bother me, but for a fun little arcade experience it was perfect, especially given the control limitations. There's a good variety of missions, but whether or not you like this game pretty much rests on how fun you find the dogfights. The story mode takes about 5 hours to complete once, with a couple of branching paths you'd have to replay the entire game to see. There is a bunch of unlockable parts and jets, and also a few extra missions. $30 might still be a little much for this game, but it's a pretty solid buy for around 20 I think.

Cool game, makes me interested in checking out the Wii Project Aces game.

Bought Journey today. Beat Journey in about 90 minutes. I kind of wish it was $10 instead of $15 but it was pretty solid. I really liked the art style and some of the mechanics. I also really liked the random coop. I noticed that I lost my partner a few times but in the end it lists who you had played with and there were 8 people, it honestly felt like 4. I also really like that there is no voice chat and the only way you communicate is through these little chirps from pressing Circle.

Pretty great game, although I would have loved for it to be longer. Even with the unlockable characters, I finished it 3 times in under 2 hours. The game has great animation and moves at a terrific pace, but I wasn't a huge fan of the art and music. Not that it was bad, it just seemed very utilitarian. This is fine though, because whoever made this game is great at thinking up fun gameplay mechanics. I thought that the 3rd dudes light gun mechanic, especially moving the cursor off screen to reload, was genius. My favorite is the 2nd character, who opens up the gameplay to using sniping tactics in addition to the hit and run tactics of the first.

The gameplay was crazy fast and fun. Definitely felt like a throwback to Gunstar Heroes. I can't wait for this guy to finish up The Iconoclasts. His little Zelda 2 clone is pretty damn great too.

Hogwash. Here's my rule of thumb on this - it's not really cheating because I still need to be good enough to complete the task. Look, I've already completed the game. If I can, I don't want to have to do it all over again. I've already done it properly once. I still need to figure out how to win the part I'm stuck on. All I'm doing is cutting out the fluff of having to do it again. I'm a busy man, I'm not wasting my time playing through a certain section over and over just so I can get better at one part of it.

So unless I use some code that gives me infinite health or some shit, it isn't cheating. I also use Stage Selects in older games as a means of saving my progress. It's legit. I'm not skipping anything.

Finished Monster Tale tonight. I kind of didn't expect it to be the ending, but it was. This game was kind of underwhelming. The map sucked. Combat was decent. I relied too much of melee through the whole game. Towards the end I realized it wanted me to shoot. There were a handful of scenes where I died over and over again because I relied on melee. Oh well. Game was pretty short too. Took me just over 5 hours. It says I've done only 80% of the game, but most of that looks like it's just grinding to get the different forms of my beast and buy the rest of the stat upgrades. Well, I'm just not interested in doing those things.

I think I just beat Noitu Love 2... but it crashed on me the moment I defeated the final boss. So I don't really know if I did it or not. I'll have to retry another day.
