This has been a rumor for the last year or so. Originally I heard they were coming out with a straight to DVD movie, then it was supposed to be straight to DVD episodes. Now who knows.... here's the article that was on Comcast today.

Futurama is great. I'm glad all these nights of me watching it on Cartoon Network might actually have some sort of impact. Zoidberg is so hilarious. Bender is awesome too since he's pretty much the cartoon robot version of our very own Jeff Winter.

It's Back to the Futurama for Katey Sagal & Co.
It isn't a comeback for The Comeback, but hey, at least it's something. On the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, Katey Sagal confirmed that Futurama was returning to the tube. "It is going to be on Comedy Central," she said, "and they are making 16 or 13 episodes, I'm not sure."

What happened to Craig Kilborn?

I don't watch that show. How am I supposed to know? I rarely stay up that late on the weekdays now.

I'm so happy futurama is coming back. To see Zoidberg's glorius mouthacles once more rub each other thoughtfully while he considers a meal is as close to paradise as any mortal man can move.

I saw Craig Ferguson's show the other night when Katey Sagal was on and mentioned the return. Comedy Central's night time stuff just got better!

i was listening to the "billy west spotlight" from the stern show who does the voice of just about every character on futurama including fry, the professor, zoidberg, zapp...just about all of them.

anywho, billy says he just got done recording for "2 DVDs" and there's "2 more" coming around soon. looks like futurama is around the corner...maybe this summer or fall '07.

i cant wait.

Billy West, I remember him as the Bee from the Cheerios commercials, as well as Ren and Stimpy!

He's pretty talented with those voices, I must say.

From reuters.com...

Quote:
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Futurama" is coming back.

"Futurama: Bender's Big Score" will be released November 27 directly to DVD. It's the first full-length "Futurama" feature based on the animated Fox TV series, which went off the air in 2003; three additional films will be released individually through 2008, all with the original creative team and voice cast on board.

The plot centers on the "Futurama" crew fighting to save Earth in an epic battle against nudist alien Internet scammers. Bender the robot soon comes under the alien's spell and is sent back in time to loot the Earth of its greatest treasures; at one point he runs into Al Gore, who guest stars as himself, during the 2000 presidential recount. Other guest stars include rapper Coolio and comedian Sarah Silverman.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment was expected to announce the details at the Comic-Con International convention underway in San Diego.

"Futurama" is the second Fox TV series to spawn a made-for-DVD program. Two years ago Fox's home entertainment unit released a direct-to-video feature based on the "Family Guy" series, "Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story."

I cant wait for this one.
I'm pumped.

Not sure if this is getting any publicity because I dont watch adult swim but the Futurama movie hit stores today. I bought it and plan on watching it soon.

I miss Fry and the fellas. Hopefully its still on top of its game. Always thought it was one of the funniest cartoons out there.
