i caught up to this show ths past weekend on HBO. its about these 2 guys from new zealand trying to make a band in the states, but they're completely rediculous. its pretty damned funny.

ths clip was what sold me on it:

I watched a few more episodes and I'm starting to like it more.
Its definitely "different" but as the episodes go on I find myself enjoying it a little more each time.

Murray is great by the way. I love the band meetings.
I wish Arj Barker would be in it a little more. He's a funny dude and he has the smallest part on the show.

yeah then when they had a meeting with the guy who makes the musical greeting cards, the meeting started and murray is like "he didnt take attendance". it was good stuff.

Plus the one with Bowie from the different time periods was fuckin great. hahaha

I watched all of them except the new one that came on this past Sunday and I have got to say, I'm a fan. I'll be catching these every Sunday night now until it ends.

I'm surprised nobody commented on this. I was flipping back and forth between this and Ice Road Truckers last night and man I was dying. The Party Prince Song was great...

Flight of the Conchords put out a video for a song off their new CD.
The CD has most of the songs from Season 1, but studio versions.

I enjoy the show a lot actually, the humor is kind of more BBC-esque, slower paced perhaps but I find more humorous then some domestic shows. (Spaced, the IT Crowd, the British version of the Office that kind of thing when I mean slower but amazing BBC-esque type shows.)

I find the chemistry between Bret and Jermaine is really strong, not quite as strong as maybe Simon Pegg and Nick Frost if I were to draw further comparisons but still excellent.

The supporting cast is also great in adding to the shows dynamic, their one fan (although I find her husband even more funny in comparison when he's mentioned or shown in an episode), murray and the pawn shop guy are all great.

However, Bret and Jermaine's stand up comedy routines I find are more humorous than the show (not neccesarily knocking the show at all). You can Youtube a lot of their standup stuff, in particular I found the setup and acoustic style and delivery of this version of the Bowie song more entertaining than in the show.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=iR2L98gobTQ

though Jermain visiting Bret as David Bowie in the show was quite hilarious

Overall it might not be the best show ever, but it beats reruns of Friends.

from thetvremote.com
Quote:
The new season is just a week away - online at least - with FunnyOrDie.com streaming the premiere on Dec. 17 at noon ET, a full month in advance of its HBO debut. This season, look for Bret and Jemaine to attempt to jump-start their careers by filming an edgy, truth-challenged biopic about the band that borrows liberally from Star Wars.
