Thought I'd make a thread for the new TMNT film now that things seem to really be getting along.

The latest news is that Michael Bay is producing and that the director is Jonathan Liebesman whom directed 2006's Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Battle LA and Wrath of the Titans. It's a unique pick. He has a series of "mature" moves behind him, so I wonder how serious Nick is about this movie as far as the audience. With Bay as a producer I'm guessing it'll be semi-family oriented with an adult edge, like Transformers, which is fine with me as long as it's entertaining and not a train wreck. In the very least, it sounds like it'll have more in line with the original movie than the derp derp sequels.

I'm excited because I'll never stop loving TMNT and I'll see this opening day regardless of reviews. It could have zero percent on the T-Meter and I'll be there. Hahaha.

Michael Bay? Sounds like explosions and helicopters.

Yep, the subject says it all. The Michael Bay reboot of TMNT should be named like I said since they are now aliens from another planet. Aliens in a half-shell, alien power.....

http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/19/showbiz/m ... hpt=hp_bn7

Thanks for destroying another of our beloved series....

He has also told fans to "chill".

Quote:
Briefly: Yesterday a quote from Michael Bay surfaced in which the producer/director said that the Platinum Dunes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, produced by Bay and to be directed by Jonathan Liebesman, would feature characters that are “from an alien race.” Fans of the property flipped out a bit, but at the time Bay hadn’t taken to his own forums to respond.

Now he has, and his statement is about what you’d expect:

Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.

The new TMNT film is written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec and we know little about it, other than characters from the early issues of the comic series will appear, and Paramount has planned a Christmas Day 2013 release date. And while we’re on the subject, I’d like to direct you to this related Onion article.

I still believe what he's saying is being taken out of context. I doubt the turtles are from Mars or another planet. But who the hell knows, maybe they are aliens.

You know what? I don't think I care even if they did fly in from another galaxy. Just give me a good movie with the turtles and they can be where ever they want to be from. Their origin isn't the sort of thing that's going to make or break this movie. This movie will likely suck for other reasons.

I still can't wait.

I haven't read that CNN article, but isn't Krang originally from Dimension-X? I'd consider that to be "alien". Everyone needs to calm down.

Yeah, TMNT has always dealt with aliens. In the newer(ish) series from the early 2000s, Shredder was actually an alien. No one seemed to have any beef with that.

Alien turtles is the least of my concerns.

Michael Bay. That's what we should be worried about.

Michael Bay should just start remaking his own movies...I'd be interested in that

When all these guys started popping up that's about when I lost interest in the show. Oh and great picture Steve.
