Move out west like me! I think it's about 2 candidates for every job opening. So on average, you just have to beat out the other guy competing with you. Pay is better too.

We were ready to do this on Sept 1. My wife had already quit her job since we had planned to move to the UK (plans got fucked), but we couldn't find any jobs out west in advance. We were too pussy to just move out there and look, so we re-upped on our 1yr lease Sept 1, since, you know, i had a steady job here. If this shit happened 30-60 days earlier, we would been out of this shit hole.

Oh well, unemployment until my lease is up, i guess.

My job has officially offered me another job. In Ashburn. Out of the 4 ppl they are laying off, i'm the only one they decided they want to rehire. Which really makes me feel good about my performance. It'd be a shitty 2 hour commute, but I'm considering doing it if they can schedule me to my liking. something like 10hr day - 10 hr day - day off - 10 hr day - 10 hr day - day off - day off. That way i could stay up there two nights a week. If i could find a place to stay that is. Anyone have any friends who live in NoVa and would rent me a room two nights a week long term? lol.

Thats cool they offered you a different position, but it sucks that its 2 hours away. Maybe bite the bullet for a while and continue looking for new work at a place that is closer?

Or you could ask for relocation expenses and break your lease and move.

That would have worked, but my wife has a job here now that she really likes, which pays about as much as mine does. I took the offer, starting Nov 7. Now i just need to find some place to stay two nights a week in NoVa. FML.

Let me get this out of the way first. I hate when someone calls me up on the phone and says do you remember me? I'm the guy who bought _______. I can't recall too many people unless they are regulars who come in at least once a week. This guy has only been in once and bought an Xbox a week or two ago now. I didn't recognize him since he doesn't come in all the time.

So anyway, today has been calls nonstop by the guy above who first tells me his Xbox is red ringing and he can't find the receipt. I can't do anything without a receipt. I told him the risks of buying an original 360 when he was at the store. Of course he only had enough to purchase the white system that costs $109.99 and I tell people about buying a hard drive because you will need it. He passed on it and in one of his 4 calls to the store got upset that it didn't come with a hard drive when he purchased it. He came into the store and told me that his 360 is working again. He purchased a 20 gb hard drive and then calls me back up to ask me how to connect it online with a cricket wireless device. I think he was trying to say it was red ringing to get a newer model with a hard drive to play online since he thought I held out on giving him a hard drive. I told him that those things are all different sizes and that usually the customer can decide on what hard drive is good for them depending on what they play and so on.

What really gets me worked up is that when he was in the store he could have asked questions on how to connect to the internet and what was needed instead of asking me to be phone tech support while he tries to connect it to the internet at that very moment. I just hate the fact that this guy is completely clueless and gets angry at me for not having the proper stuff to connect to the internet.

In other news an old guy fainted outside on the street and a car started honking its horn and pulled over. The old man got up very lackadaisical and the person in the car picked them up to help him out. That was a bit scary.

I don't understand why you need to explain anything to that guy. You're not Microsoft tech support. You're a retailer. You don't have to explain to him how stuff works.

Completely unrelated but one time I was taking a walk with Benson and some old man comes out of his house and starts asking me if i know how to hook up a DVD player. He had been at it for hours and just couldn't get it to go. I told him I'm terrible electronics and couldn't help. He looked so sad. Fuck that guy, I'm not going into some strangers house. I don't care how old and sad he looked. Hahahahah.

HAHAHAHHA

I wonder when we will get like that. I hope I never do. I might just ask someone to shoot me and put me out of my misery.

What is terrible but awesome is when I ask who their service provider is and they tell me their neighbor a smile comes to my face and I have to tell them to get Verizon or Comcast. I actually enjoy telling them that they must pay for those services.

I'm not sure if I've written about this customer or not but here goes. For intents and purposes this guy will be named Hodor like the simpleton from Game of Thrones. This morning Hodor comes into the store to ask when his copy of Quake II would come in. This guy has been ordering PC games from us for months. Nate and I have told him it might be easier to get Steam on his PC because of the relative ease of downloading games. This guy doesn't have an internet connection so he can't play some of the PC games he bought from us since some of them just have to be connected to the internet. FAIL!
I guess somewhere along the line he finally bought a PS3 and asked about a Collector's edition of Resident Evil 6. I informed him of the anthology edition that had digital versions of 1-5. He didn't understand what digital versions meant. After explaining this to him he decided that he was going to Game Stop to get the anthology. A half hour rolls by and he comes back from Game Stop to just purchase the regular game. If I was already at Game Stop I would have just purchased the game there. (Whatever he is helping our business) He asks me again when he gets into the store to explain digital versions and once again asks if Quake II was here yet. Hodor wouldn't know what to do if he ever did get internet connection I tells ya!

A side note to this story. A few days ago Hodor had come in while Nate, Damon, and I were working. I would say he is a man in his mid to late 30's. He asked me about some movie and I told him it was the sequel to whatever movie it was. He had this puzzled look on his face and asked what a sequel was. Nate, Damon and I looked at each other not sure if he was serious. Nate wanted to laugh.

If he did get the internet, what would he ever do when he finds out there's porn on there?
