A two part whore daddy, I'd probably be the bigger one in this case.

So my dad left his Iphone on a job and I grabbed it and for some reason stuck it on the side of the truck instead of giving it to him, I drove away with it on the side, hits the ground and gets ran over.

That was a 3gs, no big deal, he has a spare older phone. Itunes refuses to use the backup of his new phone on an old phone, keeps telling me to update the firmware. Firmwares already updated, I've tried restoring no luck, won't let me use the backup because the software is "too old". If this was a blackberry, it would have been working already. Iphones fucking blow, their about as intuitive (my brother in law kept telling me how intuitive his Iphone was a few weeks ago) as the hair on my nuts.

All bitching aside, any idea of a fix? I'd hate to see him have to upgrade his phone because my mind was shut off for a few minutes.

I don't know how to fix that, but I hate doing big updates on my phone. I always back shit up numerous times and end up losing all my apps anyways. Some day I'll figure out how to do it right...

Apparently, I may be the only person EVER to downgrade phones, everything I see online is about upgrading.

I know this is no help but I have had phone issues lately too.
I need a new phone basically. Mine gives me the hourglass constantly. And freezes at least once a day where I have to reboot it. This happened on my previous phone and I got a replacement. Now its happening again. And I can't get OS 5 for the Blackberry on the old Curve 8330 which means I can't get the new BBM. And the one I have it so goddamn slow. I think I'm up for a new one soon on my plan but not totally sure. But I get mad at it on a daily basis.

Yeah my 9650 has been brutal lately. I may switch to an Android, I haven't decided fully yet, but I'm sick of how poorly my phone has been working over the last month.

And the answer to my question, you can't downgrade an Iphone and use Itunes to bring back your stuff. What a joke.

In honor of the new Independence Day movies. I found this to be pretty funny.

i fucking hate siri. do you know why? because i can't stand reading how advanced it is and how amazingly awesome it is. i swear to god android has been doing this for two years now. for free. even on my lower end hand set. voice speech and search has been built into the OS for years now. also there are at least four options on the marketplace that i know of that do exactly the same shit as siri. and i mean, EXACTLY the same shit, and have for some time. yet, somehow apple now "invented" this and from here on out everyone is playing catch up or are ripping apple off.

god damn it i fucking hate apple.

It's probably one of those things that existed before, but then someone made it good. I haven't tried it yet though. Maybe its the worst.

It's like a much more advanced version of those bots that respond to what you type to it. It's like an advanced AOL chat room sex bot.

Pretty much. They gave it a name and a personality. That's enough to make people think it's unique and new.

It's all about marketing with Apple. They've done with tech what those name brand clothing stores did for fashion. It's not that those clothes are much better clothes, they've just got the name and marketing behind it. It's recognizable so people want it.

Yeah. They have good marketing. Also, Droid commercials are the fucking worst. Those things are targeted at 20 - 40 year old male PC users. It's no wonder the iPhone looks cool to the mass market.

siri doesnt do anything new or magical. it relly doesn't. i'm just amazed at the sheer idiocy. even these "tech" writers are just bat shit insane. like, i watched this one guy pit the iphone 4S against the samsung galaxy sII. in the keyboard department, he gushed about it and followed it up with "and look there's a mic icon down here that will translate what you said thanks to apple's amazing new tools". when he got to the galaxy sII, he just went, "you can get other keyboards on the android market"....and DIDN EVEN MENTION THE EXACT SAME FUCKING BUTTON THATS BEEN THERE FOR FORVER. i just cant believe it.

Are those android ones also integrated across the OS so you can send texts, manage contacts, ask for internet searches, add calendar events, etc?

I read a pretty funny article about how Jobs didn't really invent anything, he just took something that wasn't so great and tweaked it until it was great. But that he got really pissed off whenever anyone did something like that with any of his products.

I like apple products. But I am really fukin tired of how much love they get in the press and by the public. It's a tech company you bunch of fukin fanatics.

yes. voice search was always built into the OS, but with froyo, ver 2.2, voice controll allowed you to send a text, an email, find nearby shit, get directions, direct speech to text within any text field, ask it some silly question an it would pull up a google search with your answer, ect. i could say, "find me some nearby italian resturants" and it would pull up a google search with a map of nearby places pinned with their phne number and directions. third party apps, like jeannie, built onto it and added the "personal assistant". they talked back to you with the robot voice, could schedule meetings, remind you about crap, and find shit. i said "thank you" once, and it said "you're welcome."

is siri good? sure. it does alot of stuff right and in a lot of ways better than what is found on android. is it this fucking ground breaking, never before heard of technology? absolutely not, and thats what kills me. the new version of android, 4.0, has enhanced voice input where it almost types as you speak, and i was a bit imprssed with the speed that it worked at, but you don't hear jack shit about that. not enough hipsters jizzing over it.

Well, that's because nobody cares about Android.

I compare this Siri shit to motion controls. It's an unnecessary feature that I don't give a flying fuck about that a bunch of dedicated fans drool over.

If you are just saying shit to your phone like "look for...italian restaurant" you look like a fucking tool.

I could see it being cool for when you're in the car, assuming it works.

dante, thats a typical answer of an apple fanboy. and nick, you're half right. it is very douchy and is why i dont do it much when im out in public. you basically just looks like an asshole saying that shit. it also has its draw backs in public. it picks up surrounding noise alot. i do use it alot while driving. however to say that it isnt the way of involving tech is a bit short sighted. like, more than once, i sent off a text while im trying to get shit donw and dont have time to plunk away at the keyboard. i just said what i needed to say, and hit send while like packing my bags to leave for work or some shit. how we interact with our computers has to change in a more natural way. mice and keyboards for normal computing tasks are obsolete my friend.

My mom uses Dragon to help with her reports for work. it is an advanced program and you still need to talk to slowly. I honestly think I could take a 5 second break to fire off a text while packing.

The thing about androids is that there is like 10 android phones announced a day, and they don't even all come with the latest OS version. It's all decided by the phone manufacturer, and all the phones have different set-ups/custom features.

However, here's just one line of iPhones. There's one new iPhone with the newest features, and you either have it or you don't. When it gets a new "big" feature, it's a big deal because, like it or not, it is the smart phone right now.

That's what I meant by that last comment. When Android gets a new feature, no one gives a shit, because it'll be on 1/20 Android phones.
