The Evil Dead

I love Army of Darkness, but I've never actually seen Evil Dead or Evil Dead 2. This movie was absolutely repulsive, and it didn't help that I was eating ice cream during some of the more disgusting scenes.

It's easily one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. There's this bizarre sense of humor to it even though it's serious and nasty. I hear ED2 is where it gets really campy before the even campier Army of Darkness, but this is just wow. At the end when the bodies are just exploding and melting it just never stopped. It was hideous. I can see why this movie caused so much controversy when it was released.

I liked it, but I don't know if I could watch it again. My wife absolutely hated it. At one point she basically stopped paying attention to it. I want to see ED2 now.

Wow, I had no idea you never saw those. I have the trilogy on DVD, the original is in a spongey Necronomicon case. Its awesome.

Yeah I think Sam Raimi was supposed to make a serious gorefest horror movie but people kind of laughed at how silly some of it was. Then in Evil Dead 2 he basically remade Evil Dead just focused on Ash with a lot more silliness and so it became more of a comedy series than horror. Of course you know Army of Darkness just takes it to a whole new level.

Ha, yeah I'm surprised it took me this long to watch those movies. I think I was even the one that got you to watch Army of Darkness if I remember right. I remember seeing that DVD release at Best Buy when it came out. It was pretty cool.

Yeah it had a lot of silly parts that I'm not sure if it was intentional if they were silly. Like the sister being trapped in the basement and just yelling at people for basically the entire movie. It was a combination of being genuinely creepy but somehow funny at the same time.

You should show the first one to your wife. I want to see if she hates it as much as Demi did. Hahahaha.

I have only seen the first, and was a little surprised because it was so serious.

I liked it though.

Yeah, the original Evil Dead is really twisted. I think that's why I like it. Evil Dead 2 is the funniest, and Army of Darkness is the most over the top. I love them all.

Since we were getting some good feedback, I made this its own topic.
Phil I left your review in the Reviews section but the quote with it is still in my post at the top.

By the way, I would totally buy this bobblehead.

hahaha i never saw that

yea man Army of Darkness is one of my favorite movies.

This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
