The future!!

Back to the Future: The Game (Episode 1) (PC) - January 1st 2011

Wrapped this up today while I was eating my lunch. More of the same from Telltale, which is not a bad thing at all. I really liked it. Just gotta wait until February for the next one.

That's when we get to download the first for free. I knew there would be a catch! oh well, I'm fine with that.

This game should be called FFFFFF, because i constantly had the work 'fuck' on the tip of my tongue. 'The last challenge' took me 143 tries. GAH!

I loved it, but man, this game is kind of an asshole. I think I saw a trinket somewhere where you had to jump up through like 4 screens of spikey death, back down the other side to grab the coin, and then back again.

FUCK THAT.

I actually did that one. How many did you end with? I have 13 and will never get the rest.

Not many, I stumbled upon the ending just through exploration.

Neat game, poorly executed. One of the best dialogue tree systems yet, though.

Not as good as Case Zero, but it has Frank West in it. If you're up for killing more zombies and learning a LITTLE bit more about the Dead Rising story, check it out. Otherwise, I'd say give it a pass.

I liked it when I wasn't pulling my hair out. The soundtrack alone is worth playing through the game. I felt like the character moved way too much for a tiny button press, and I constantly fell off shit because of it. Maybe its my keyboard.

Good campaignI enjoyed it a lot as it differed from the normal COD army stuff and had a pretty good cerebral storyline. I noticed in the credits it was written by David Goyer who helped write Batman Begins and various other blockbusters...good stuff.

I wouldnt mind Mason coming back for anoher game.

Also I called the Reznov being Tyler Durden from the vietnam stuff on...and how aout that ending...you killed JFK...sheesh.

Game about beards, guns, and deserts. Shooting feels really good thanks to fantastic sound design, and perfect force feedback. I didn't pay much attention to the actual story, but I liked the tone of it. It was more of a serious war story where you actually feel like your a part of something, as opposed to the Michael Bay COD games. Bonus points for having a working lean mechanic, and the sliding mechanic was also neat. It hits the standard FPS notes of a sniper mission, a chopper mission, and a stealth mission. A fun, short game.

Really enjoyed this one. It's very much like Professor Layton. The puzzles aren't as devious, but they are fit in to the story MUCH more cleverly. Also, the story is pretty out there and often hilarious, inspired by directors like David Lynch, Kubrick, and the Coen brothers. Consider me in the fan club.

Fable 3 - Jan 9

I completely blazed through this game. I bought it Friday night and today is Sunday. I knocked most of it off in two massive play sessions (5-7 hours). Really enjoyed it and I was evil as fuck lol.

Now lets see if I can actually remember to keep updating this list this year.

Toki Tori (PC) Jan 9

Been playing Toki Tori for about 2 weeks now. I'll admit that towards the end I kind of just wanted to finish the thing and Youtubed all the puzzles for the final three levels (after trying them about two times on my own). I cheated a few other times here and there, but that would usually be after starring at a level for over an hour and having only an egg or two left.

The goal is for your little chicken man, Toki Tori, to find a bunch of eggs using the set number of items available to him. It's a really hard game actually, and it's pretty fun for what it is. There's a ton of extra hard and bonus levels too which I may go back to at some point.

Since i know no one will ever play this I'll just spoil the ending, it's weird, Tori is basically a cannibal. I thought he was rescuing all of the eggs, but at the end of the game he makes the world's biggest omelette out of them. Then the credits have an awful DK64 style rap and then they give special thanks to the characters from South Park and Dexter Morgan. It's weird, but I laughed.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS3) - January 11th

You know, I liked this game. It's pretty derivative of God of War, but there are a lot worse games to copy. It had some great boss battles and some not so great. I hated the titans. So tedious. I think the game's strongest sections were the puzzles. That music box level was pretty awesome. But man, this game is just fucking nuts. The story is so wacky, and the acting is all over the place. First of all, Jean-Luc Picard was terrible all the way through. I don't want to place all the blame on him, because the writing was really awful, but man, it's hard to ignore the boredom in his line reads. Also, Gabriel had the absolute worst screams.

The ending of this game is completely insane. You fight the Devil, which is pretty awesome, but then the 'after the credits' ending just uproots everything. You are Dracula? And you're living in present day? What the fuck happened? Zobek is still alive? This is the kind of thing Kingdom Hearts does everytime, give you a vague, confusing final ending, and then find a way to tie it in in the next game. I'm just not sure they'll be able to do another Castlevania game like this.

What a freaking weird game.

About Zobek, he's still alive because he's Death. The ending of the game was awesome man, I loved it. And Patrick Stewart is pretty lousy, we made fun of him pretty good in the last SRP.

Ehhh, I guess you're right. They didn't make that very clear though. I mean, they kind of looked similar, but I never was able to put it together from the dialog they used. If you are right, that's fucking lame regardless.

Why is it lame? They came out and said that Zobek was one of the Lords of Shadow and was revealed to be Death. It's just a different take on an old character. I prefer Death as we know him, but I'll take Zobek Death too.
