Falling Skies is an upcoming American science fiction television drama series created by Robert Rodat and Steven Spielberg for TNT. The first season will feature ten episodes. The show is produced by DreamWorks Television, with Steven Spielberg acting as an executive producer. Falling Skies is set to premiere on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at 9 p.m. with a two-hour pilot episode.

Falling Skies tells the story of the aftermath of an alien invasion; It follows a group of survivors who must band together in order to fight back against the invading aliens. The group, known as the 2nd Mass, is led by history professor Tom Mason who, in search of his son, must put his extensive knowledge of military history to the test as one of the leaders of the resistance movement.

Starring Noah Wyle and Moon Bloodgood.
Its about aliens of course because Spielberg has a hard on for aliens.

Here's a preview.

And a 5 minute clip.

anyone gonna watch this? should I even update the thread?
It starts Sunday at 9PM. Same day as Game of Thrones and The Killing finales. So I'll have DVR set and will watch it during next week sometime.
But I'm hoping it can fill the void from the 2 shows that are ending.

I'll check it out and give it a chance. The GoT/Killing void is going to be rough.

Totally Rad Show has their review of the premiere. They seem to be a little iffy on it, but want to give it more of a chance.

Any of you guys watch it? I had it on for a bit when I was doing dishes and then started playing OoT when it was on. Then I just ended up turning it off and putting headphones on. I DVRd it though just in case.

Nah man, the Thrones and Killing finales took up my entire night.
I heard Damon Lindelof of LOST fame loved it. Not sure if I'll have time tonight either since its 2 hours long but we'll see.

i will have to watch it later this week. I am in breaking bad catch up mode so I have no time for alien shenanigans right now.

I watched it in parts over the course of last night.
I enjoyed it. I've seen better post-apocalyptic settings but it was still enjoyable. Ensemble cast that I'll have to learn the names of and have grow on me from week to week, but I'm on board for the ride. The aliens were kinda cool, like a bunch of Ursulas from the Little Mermaid. And the big Mech walkers were kinda shitty CGI-wise.

Of course you have the badass. Then you have the father with kids. The tough girl (2 of them by the end). The pretty boy rebel older son.
Stereotypical characters but we'll see if they grow on me.

We just watched the first hour, I like it so far. It's not on a BSG/Lost level but its nice to see some good sci-fi on tv. I'd take a show like this over another hospital/courtroom/police show any day of the week.

Finished the 2nd hour, it was good. I really liked it once they introduced Pope, hes probably the most interesting character so far. The scene with him and Noah Wyle in the auditorium was great, he totally stole the show. In video game speak its kind of like Half-Life/Resistance the TV show. I'll keep tuning in.

Watched the 3rd episode tonight. I'm mildly interested in the story, but some of the dialog and acting is just so bad its laughable. The only characters that I find interesting at all are Tom and Pope, everyone else is annoyingly stupid. My wife is already saying shes had enough, I'll tough it out for a couple more episodes but I really hope theres some payoff coming.

I thought the new episode had a couple good HOLY SHIT moments.
But with any show, the characters that are not always in the foreground are going to take some time to get used to.

Like angry chick that came with Pope is useless, asian guy that helps Tom is a nobody right now, and there's a few others like this. They're always there but not really doing much... or saying much.

im with you guys, pope is the only interesting character. the rest are forgettable. I also really hate the way the aliens look. They just look stupid

am i the only one who thinks it is awful they have a 12 year old running around shooting automatic weapons? im sorry, but his ass would not be able to handle the recoil of an assault rifle. amongst many other things that make it ridiculous.

also did anyone think about ID4 when noah wylie dragged a half alive one back from the field. i was waiting for him to kick it and say "welcome ta erf"
