Starting the thread. Make sure you vote for next episode's games. It's between Axelay and Cybernator, two SNES titles currently available on the Wii VC for 8 bucks a pop.

Vote here http://www.shamoozal.com/nerdlog/shamoo ... the-world/

Axelay

Cybernator

I love how the sound effects from Axelay sound just like Contra 3. And the sounds from Cybernator sounds megaman Xish. The good old days of the SNES. Speaking of Contra 3, I might try to find it online.

Oh yeah.

Cost about the same as the Virtual Console version after shipping. How could I resist?

I'm gonna grab it off the VC tonight. I was away over the weekend so I missed the end of the poll.

I don't think so. Amazon's pictures are mixed up sometimes. I just checked and the picture is different now.

Just a few quick thoughts. I really like this game's graphical style and overall motif. There's a good range of mechanics; the "analog" aiming, boost, shield, hover, zero-g sections, the open levels. This game has a good amount of stuff to separate it from the pack. It could have been a pure Contra clone, but it takes the formula and twists it around. I wish I had played more of it, but I really enjoyed what I did.

- Megaman 2 is way easier than Megaman 9. 9 just has so many more asshole instant death traps, and enemies placed specifically to knock you into pits unless you move really slowly or play it enough to know where they are. I know I've played 2 a lot, but even the older megamans I haven't played a lot are pretty easy for me. 9 is hellish in comparison.

- I love how everyone got stuck on the 2nd stage and Phil's like "Yeah, it takes like an hour or whatever to beat it."

- I got to the 3rd stage of the game. I was playing as windows installed on my PC, so as soon as it was done, I switched my attention back to the computer.

The podcast got me pumped to see more of the game. I'm definitely gonna come back to it. Good podcast, gentleman. Mission accomplished.

I think your memories are deceiving you. I'd say 9 is easier or they are at least comparable in difficulty. I never really found 9 to be very difficult at all. I'd actually consider it one of the easier mega mans. You get so many extra lives and energy tanks. I think 1 is actually pretty hard. 3 is also tough.

Not true. You can buy stuff, but you rarely get extra lives or energy tanks just by playing the game. Mega Man 3, as difficult as it may be at times, gives you loads of them.

9 is rough. Almost every level has spikes, ridiculous jumps and a tough mini-boss. You also take more damage than in the earlier mega man games.

Oh and I've played them both within the past month or so. My memories aren't that faulty.

good podcast guys. i wish i had time to play cybernator myself on this round, but i was frrelancing at nights after work all last week and for most of this past weekend. all work and no play makes me a sleepy person :(

i pick shatterhand for the next one. chances are i wont be able to play this one either, but i dont know much about it. i do remember seeing the box art for it way back when it first came out, but i never played it. shadow of hte ninja is a good game and a lot of fun, but again i want to hear about something i don't know about.
