I didn't mean it as an insult. I watch the show every week and enjoy it, despite not wanting to actually play the games myself. Yes, just playing a portion of the game gives you enough to talk about, but my idea of a book club is to discuss the entirety of the book/game. If I was personally in a book club, I would expect the other people to read the whole thing. Maybe I have a different view of book clubs.

Fair enough, point taken.

hah "the bug gets eaten by the tentacles". that's like a classic video game line along the lines of tightening up some graphics on level three.

i remember being pretty blown away by "out of this world" on SNES also. nothing moved like that then like phil said and it was tough wrapping your head around it a bit.

"myzooma" is awesome hah

Yeah dude. Seeing that shit in motion for the first time just floored me. It's the kind of thing that people just wouldn't get unless they were there at the time.

Seeing the intro for Out of this World at my cousins house on SNES blew my mind back then. We used to always say "My Tuba" then the music goes "DUR NER NER NER!" I still love that game it was a classic in the Still residence.

There are more extended impressions of The Last of Us now. The AI is pretty complex. There seem to be a ton of factors that go into how things play out. You could have gotten through that entire section without killing anybody.

i felt the violence in Last of Us had a palpable feel to it, and gave you a sense that you were killing "people" and not just "targets" which is actually saying something. the violence in the GOW series is violence for the sake of violence to shock you. there was no glorification of violence in Last of Us, and if nate was right about there being some AI going on where you coudl sneak past everyone woudl've been really cool. however thats not what the gaming "press" wants to see. steve just mentioned "human" in the podcast, and i think we can find that here if we have a choice to get through a section without killing anyone like in MGS.

Playing Lara Croft for Game Club. Little more than half way through the game. I complete the stage and get a "disc read" error despite this being stored locally on my drive. I load up the game again, start the stage and get the same message. I can select the previous stage again, but fuck I just spent a half hour doing that shit.

It's not that I don't like the game, it's just I feel defeated... and I might get the error again!
