If that's a jab at Splinter Cell I couldn't agree more.

I'm talkin about Double Agent.. on the gamecube. I played it for an hour, and I'm usually good at shooters. But this one just freaked me out when I died like 50 times. My partner never helped in fights. He was a complete computere idiot. When I got my gun I automatically crouch which means I can't run for shelter while I'm being shot at. The camera viewing was the part the pissed me off the most. I tried to invert my left/right camera moving. I tried atleast twenty times but every time I saved the option (manditory.. which is just plain stupid) it wouldn't work. I'm going to give this game a shot with some cheats. Usually I don't do stuff like that but in this case I'm willing to, just so it's not 7 bucks the drain for a stupid rental. Maybe the 360 and Gamecube controls are different. I just really really hate this game.

MGS controls can't come close to SC? no way man. i never have any problem taking bad guys down in the MGS series. SC is just a turn off.

I'm going to be honest here, I gave the original Splinter Cell a fair chance across ALL the major consoles. In fact, I couldn't wait to play SC when it was first announced and it almost made me want to buy an Xbox (this is before the other versions). Long story short, when it came out on Xbox I played it for maybe about an hour and I just couldn't get into it. Then I snagged a demo from KB Toys for the PS2 version (with the intention of maybe buying it later) and I didn't like that version either. I finally played the Gamecube version, which looked and controller better then the PS2 port, but I still didn't get into it.

Basically, I absolutely hate the controls, not to mention the typical "floaty jumps" of most third person action games. I also didn't like the "trial and error" gameplay. When you get caught by someone, that is basically it. I would try and try to hide and they would always get me (must have something to do with Sam's dorky green goggles). So once you get snagged, you might as well just get yourself killed.

I had no problems with SC's story and presentation, and any game with Michael Ironside as the hero is okay in my books. However I couldn't get past the controls, they just killed me. Maybe my love for MGS did wreck the SC series for me. But I can't help it, in contrast I love just playing MGS. In my eyes, its just a way more rewarding game. I played the demo of both MGS2 and 3 for hours, just goofing around and trying out every single crazy thing Snake can do. In SC, I would just sit there and become frustrated with it.

MGS does have a complicated control scheme, but once you wrap your mind around all those buttons, it plays fabulous. Snake's analog movement alone eclipses Sam's in every way. Hand a controller to someone who has never played a game before and they could probably move Snake across a room and into another one. Let the same person play SC and they would probably run into a bunch of walls first, get stuck behind a box, and then the camera would probably swing around and they would go out the same door they came out, thinking they went into the other room.

As for buying the game for Sith and him never playing it, don't worry, he never plays or watches anything people get him, it's not just you. Hahaha.

well, SC was certainly brought over here to play, but that just never came to fruition. there was too much nonsense going on, so the truth will never be known.

Is there a story that goes along to that nonsense? We should have a New Year's Story thread. The Smorg was a little slow today.

I am such an idiot. I posted this thread an hour after I started playing. I decided to quit playing right after. Then being the stubborn idiot that I am, I wasn't going to let the game beat me.
Well tonight I finished the game. I got to say I loved it, I thought stealth games would suck, but they don't. Once you get used to the controls, it's incredible. It's really in depth, everything gives off heat or electrical waves. You can hack computers from afar. And you can hack anything. One thing I really loved doing is hacking into the auto turrets and turning off the IFF (a scanner that scans for tags that guards wear so they won't get shot) and going into the next room, whistling, go back into the other room behind the turret, and just watch them get mowed down. Interrogating was tons of fun, I really liked the fact you could kill them or knock them out. But one thing really bit me in the ass, you could choose your progression for good or bad, which I absolutely hate for only one reason. JBA (bad guys) wants to kill your good friend Lambert (briefer) and you can let them or stop them, I obviously stopped them. But what about those guys who didn't. What about the next Splinter Cell? Is Lambert going to be there or not? If you get to choose your path, the sequel game will always be crap. Which disappoints me.. Well! All in all this was a fantastic game, a bit of a learning curve. But by the middle your having tons of fun watching people explode cuz of wall mines or making a guard shoot another one. If your real lucky, you can snipe two guys in the head at once! I did that tonight, amazing. Get past the learning curve and your set!
I gotta say I'm going to take back my opinion on Splinter Cell being a whore daddy, but others think it's still one so we'll leave it up.
